The Shape-Ups Experiment–Day 1

So this is the week! Through some brilliant negotiation on my part, I’ve been granted permission to go off the grid dress code-wise so that I can wear these strange, yet very intriguing Shape-Ups with totally casual clothes all week long. Now that I’m crazy busy with work and Baby Z, I never get to the gym…ever. The fact that I can try these out while doing my daily walking is pretty cool. After all, Skechers’ tagline for Shape-Ups is “Get in Shape Without Setting Foot in a Gym.(TM).” I am so gonna test that.

I’ve been a little (okay, very) skeptical about Shape-Ups and their claims. Getting ready for this whole experiment, I kept asking “What do I say when these shoes don’t do a darn thing?” Well, I’ve been in them for 5 hours now, and I can tell you they are doing something. As I was sitting here writing a bit ago, I noticed my abs were a little sore. I got up and realized that my back felt a little tight. It took a few minutes to remember that it had to be the shoes. I do have to stand straighter when wearing the Shape-Ups; I have to correct my posture. It feels like I’m using some muscles that I haven’t used in awhile.

As a whole, the Shape-Ups are very comfortable to wear. And aside from the fact that I keep mindlessly rocking in them during standing-room-only meetings, no one pays much attention to me or my feet, which is interesting since the Shape-Ups have a unique look. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings. Thumbs-up with day one of my experiment.

Oh, and if you want your own pair of Shape-Ups, better order them now. They are seriously blowing outta here!
