Barbie Shoes!

Barbie and Original Dr. Scholl's Exercise SandalOne thing that is simply iconic about Barbie is her shoes. And I confess, I am an Original Dr. Scholl’s Exercise Sandal nut. So when I heard that Barbie and Original Dr. Scholl’s had paired up to create a limited edition line celebrating 50 years of fashion, I think I squealed out loud.

Yes. Loud, girly-girly squeal at work. In a meeting. With witnesses. …but, but it’s BARBIE!

There are five of these limited-edition, collectible wearables to choose from: signature Barbie looks from the 1950′s, 1960′s, 1970′s, and even the mall-hair 1980′s are represented.

And the details! Love ‘em. Those rhinestones sparkle on the adjustable buckle. An Original Dr. Scholl’s metal medallion officiates the heel. And flash that big, pink Barbie logo on the sole. Signature Dr. Scholl’s sculpted wood footbed. These babies are official.

1960s BarbiePlus, I just love how the fabric matches the decade it represents — like the stylized waves for the 1970′s Malibu Barbie and a calico with a fashionable twist for the 1960′s.

So which one do you pick? Well, you can pick your favorite Barbie to collect, or pick your favorite upper to wear. Or both. I’m just sayin’.

For starters, I’m wearing the 50th Anniversary edition with the vintage illustrations. First, the bright pink upper is just perfect for me — I’m all about a pop of color. That and I love fashion drawings. When I was little, my mom made all kinds of tiny clothes for my Barbie, and today, I sew and collect fashion and costume patterns. So these really resonate with me.

50th AnniversaryBut knowing me, I’m not stopping there. (And no, I’m not disclosing just how full my closet is.) After all, can’t you see that the black and white zigzag is calling me from the 1950′s
